I asked him how Microsoft could permit pirated products to be sold on such a well known website. I offered to email him proof I purchased the software but he said they did not have the ability to access email. How ridiculous is it that a major software company doesn’t even give it’s employees email accounts.

I also told him I was a long term Microsoft customer with an xbox live subscription going back 7 years. He said it didn’t matter and there was nothing he was willing to do. The product was pirated and that is the bottom line. I told him I was going to write a review to inform people amazon sells pirated windows software. He indicated that was a good idea. As cheap as this was, I was worried this was too good to be true. It was. Totally invalid and useless. At least JW Geek responded promptly to my refund request and granted it without any hassle. Just installed this today on a pc I built for my son. After typing in the COA to activate Windows, it said my copy was not valid. Went to Microsoft tech support page and discovered my copy is possibly counterfeit. I will be filing a complaint with Amazon. Buyer beware. Booted from the provided Windows 10 disk and proceeded to enter the COA license under the scratch off included on the Win 10 disk envelope.

Windows continuously said that the license was invalid, try again. After ten tries, I started the return process through Amazon. Next I proceeded to buy the Windows 10 Home version from the Microsoft website.

Microsoft also e-mailed me a COA license. The benefit I think of buying a Windows OS direct from MS is that they likely validate the license key first before they send it to you. This way you can be sure the license has not been acquired by someone else already. I am an enthusiastic Amazon customer, check my other reviews and feedback. Seems like a great option. It is for fresh builds only, and is the same version of Windows that computer manufacturers use to install to prebuilt laptops, desktops etc. Also the System Builder license will be locked to your motherboard meaning it cannot be transferred from one system to another. Unless you contact Microsoft and they make an exception for you.

It also is not eligible for free upgrades to the latest versions of Windows, you still get Windows 10 updates though. So for people building their own PC this option is the better choice. You just will need to have a CD reader handy as this is sold by disc only. Install is very easy, and if you are having trouble head to YouTube, there are many easy and helpful tutorial videos available on there.

I decided to base this review on the System Builder install instead of the overall Windows 10 Home experience, which for the most part I really like anyways.

But for a cheaper option for getting Windows 10 Home I highly recommend this product. It was an already used copy, the code had already been taken. Ordered this software “Sold by Data Marketing and Electronics inc”, and received what looked to be legitimate Microsoft software.

The installation went as expected on my new computer build, but Microsoft couldn’t authenticate the software. The error message said that the license code provided with this software was already in use, even though I had never tried to install it on any other device.

It gave this message the first time I tried to use the code, and I made sure that I was using the exact code provided in the software packaging. Will avoid buying anything sold by “Data Marketing and Electronics inc” in the future. Returned product on 23 December still waiting refund.
